La Cumbre Bible Institue To Open January 2008

The board has decided to open the La Cumbre Bible Institute in January 2008. The coffee harvest this year is excellent and the men want an opportunity to make some money for their family. If it was started now we would have 3 people attending by starting in January we will have at least six and maybe several more. One of our ministers, Leonel, will be helping Toby teach.

Henry Perez will be starting a new church plant. Leonel and Henry went this morning went to investigate when they should have discipleship groups in Los Caminos. The will start several discipleship groups until they have enough to start a church. Leonel will be helping Henry until the Institute starts. Henry’s brother, Orlando attended the Bible Institute. He has been begging Henry to come to start a church since Orlando’s wife has a large family who wants a church to attend. Orlando will be helping Henry as much as he can since he is a block layer during the week. Henry’s family will be moving out to Los Caminos when his oldest son finishes school in November. Emilio has agreed to take over the Penitas church for Henry and also reopen a church in Laguna de Banaderos. There are two ministers who attend the Penitas church on the weekend who have outside jobs during the week who are willing to preach and help at the Penitas church on the weekend. One man has given the good confession and will be baptized in the next two weeks in the San Antonio church.

May God bless you,

Toby and Amy Hill

Update: Baptisms, Patients

Dear friends and family,

I just wanted to give you a quick update on the mission. Yesterday, there were two baptisms in our San Antonio church with a possible two more who will be baptized in a couple of weeks. Daniel Barkdoll is doing great and will be going
home tonight (a week earlier than what the doctors originally thought). I had 64 patients today. Asthma and dysentery seem to be the biggest problems. Please pray we would sell our white SUV and that our computer and phone system would start working well. Thank you for all your prayers and support.

May God bless you,

Toby and Amy Hill

Daniel Out Of Surgery

Thank you so much for all your prayers for Daniel. Daniel went into surgery around 9 a.m. this morning and was done maybe around 10 p.m. tonight. The doctors came out to talk to Dan and Sara with the biggest smiles on their faces just really excited how smoothly the surgery went. They even finished 3 hours earlier than what they thought. Daniel will be in ICU over night and will probably be moved onto a normal floor sometime tomorrow. He will have tons of tubes and it will take around 6 weeks before all of them are removed so pray that he will be able to be a sedate boy for 6 weeks. The exciting thing is that he will be able to catheterize himself easily now, be able to swim, take baths.... They even gave him a belly button. It is pouring down rain here so I need to close before we loose electricity just wanted you to know he is doing great thanks to your prayers.

God bless,
Amy

Update on Daniel

Dear friends and family,

Sara Barkdoll just sent me an email that I will paste on:

I just wanted to email to let you know that it looks like all is a go for Daniel's big surgery October 9 (going in this Sunday, the 7th to get cleaned out before hand). I know I explained it all before, but it has been awhile, so here is a re-cap. They are basically restructuring his entire urinary system - augmenting his bladder, re-structuring his ureters and re-implanting them into the kidneys and bladder, closing his current stoma/vesicostomy, creating a new tube for his urine with his appendix which will go to a new continent valve to the side of his current vesicostomy site and a few other things! It will be a 16-18 hour surgery and he will be in the hospital around 3 weeks. So, Daniel and all of us could use your prayers!
-------------------------
Please be in prayer for the Barkdolls as they have six children whom are all home schooled and very active in various activities. Daniel will be in ICU for a week and then on a regular floor. I will send this e-mail out again on Tuesday as a reminder since this is a very extensive surgery and really needs our prayers.

May God bless you,

Amy Hill
