Dear friends and family,
We just returned after being in the states for a month getting our new Merendon Mountain Mission organization put together. Our first board meeting went really well. The by-laws were approved and signed. Our lawyer will now file the paperwork so that we can be incorporated and then file for tax exempt status. He thinks this will be done in a few months. We plan to return to the states this summer to visit and report to our supporting churches. We are hopeful that our tax exemption status will be done by then and we can inform you of the new changes.
We arrived home Tuesday January 5 around 5 p.m. We got in at our airport earlier but the work to be done on our Land Rover wasn't even started. We rented a car but it wouldn't make it up the mountain on roads severely rutted in recent rains. They did a hurry up job on what was necessary and we proceeded up the mountain later than planned We had a great welcome home. The majority of the ministers were at the house which was wonderful because they brought in all our luggage (7 pieces, 3 carry-ons, diaper bag, and stroller.) Teresa was so excited to see the girls. So while she entertained them, I quickly went through the suitcases and put everything in the rooms where they belonged. While that was going on, Toby talked with the ministers to find out all that was going on. They have done an excellent job. They are working hard. We figured there would be no propane for our gas stove so we brought home chicken for everyone. Then last night we had spaghetti for everyone. Today Toby will spend getting medicine, and getting whatever supplies the ministers need. Tomorrow is our Honduras Church of Christ minister's meeting that everyone will be attending. Saturday, Toby plans to go to La Union. The roads are bad so he will tale the ministers there so they can continue their work. He will also check on the churches. By Monday, Toby will begin to set his schedule.
Yesterday, I had 21 patients which was an excellent number. Usually the first couple of days there are few who come until word is spread that the clinic is reopened. So I was pleased. I spent the first hour just visiting with everyone. Last night I had the first patient come to our house for an asthma attack. So things are back to normal for me.
We appreciate and ask for your continued prayers. Toby will be starting new discipleship groups to prepare men for the Bible Institute. Please pray for the illiterate young men who would like to attend but need to learn to read before they can enroll.
May God bless you,
Toby, Amy, Cassandra, and Sarah
