Dear friends and family,

We have really enjoyed having Toby's parents here. They have seen our real daily lives. For the first time we are enjoying a quiet evening at home. Wednesday they got settled in. Thursday Toby preached. We had not been home for 5 minutes when I was asked to make a house call. The little girl was the flu and was running a high fever. She is doing great now.  Friday after clinic we left for Copan (the Mayan ruins). They really enjoyed it. We arrived home around 8 p.m. Saturday. Sunday was church with visiting from Santos.

Monday morning started out slow and then... I had a woman come in who was hemorrhaging. As soon as I looked at her I knew she was having a miscarriage. We rushed her to the closest hospital. The doctor said she would have died if she had waited a couple hours more. They cleaned her up really well and then we took her to the government hospital. There they made sure everything was ok with a minor surgery. We brought home today and she is doing great.

After that I had some testing done for infertility. I was talking to my doctor telling him how I was really concerned about Yami. He checked to see how many weeks she was with the information I gave him. She was over two weeks due, which is not good. He was really concerned. He told me he to bring her in. From 3:30 till 7 p.m. he ran test on her and examined her. He found out she barely had any fluid in the sac. The doctor Yami had been seeing told her everything was ok and to wait till this Friday (he did not do an ultrasound to check the baby). Dr. Zuniga(our doctor) said that if she had waited the baby would have died. We went straight from his office to the economic but good hospital he recommended. He immediately induced labor with 1/2-hour checks. At Yami's request I spent the night with her until the baby was born.

She was in labor from 8 p.m. on Monday till about 1 p.m. on Tuesday. He decided at that point that a C-section had to be done. Within an hour Yami was in for a C-section. Dr. Zuniga allowed me to stay with Yami throughout the whole surgery. The baby was born at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are doing great. It was pretty scary there for a while. We are so thankful for all of you who were praying for them. We will be sending pictures for you to see.

At my lunch break we had to run to pick up the lady who had a miscarriage to bring home. We took a part of Yami's family to visit and checked on her quickly. It was back up the mountain quickly to see patients. Actually it was not quickly since the roads are horrible after two weeks of heavy rain.

We have gotten stuck a couple of times every time we are on the road. The first Christ in Youth for Central America starts on Monday. The youth leaders conference is starts Friday morning. Emilio, Santos, and another man for our church leave tomorrow for training. Toby will preach again tomorrow and Sunday since Emilio and Santos will be at preparing for the conference. He has been spending his week driving from hospital to hospital and preparing sermons.

Yami will go to her sister-in-laws until the roads get a little better tomorrow. I am sure she would want me to thank you for all your prayers.  We are thankful God has protected both ladies. It is so good to see that nearly on a daily basis, the Lord has provided and protected.

God bless,

Toby and Amy Hill
