Dear friends and family,
We write you discouraged and upset. A baby who was born two months early came to the clinic in La Union today. I told the dad and grandmother that we needed to get the baby immediately to the hospital. Most of the vehicles were already in the city. We asked around to see where we could find the closest vehicle. Toby took the baby, father, and grandmother to Tomala. He asked two guys to take them down. He was paying 8 days wages to carry the baby down quickly so I could continue the clinic. They said no. It wasted an hour of time to do that. When Toby came back we quickly closed the clinic in La Union. I could not believe that I had patients that said can't you just see me. I live a long way off. They did not care if the baby was going to die. I was so upset. After we got everything in the truck, we rushed down to the city. It took 2 hours. The baby stopped breathing as I entered the hospital. They tried to resusitate the baby to no avail. Toby and I just do not understand how someone could say no to saving a life. He was only 8 hours old when he died. Hopefully over the next several days we can find the time to short out our feelings and decide what to do with them.
The baby's name was Santos which means "Holy". When he died I just kept thinking of the verse in Revelation 4:8 that says "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." Maybe he is in heaven singing with the four living creatures now.
In the last two weeks I have had 3 house calls and 3 emergencies. The three house calls were due to the flu. The three emergencies were the miscarriage, Yami, and the newborn baby. Two lived and one went to heaven. We have been going from 8:30 a.m. til 9:30 p.m. Emotional and physically we are exhausted. Please pray for us that the Lord would give us strength, rest, and encouragement.
In Him,
Toby and Amy Hill
