Dear friends and family

We are so thankful for friends and family who keep us in your prayers. Toby and I were discussing the other night that if it was not for you our ministry would not be doing as well as it is. When we have written people with prayer request through the e-mail we can feel the difference it makes. We wanted to say thank you for making such a difference in our lives.

Some of you may have heard the stories about a newborn that was 6 hours old when I saw him. We were doing a rural clinic two hours above our home. He was two months premature. When I saw him he was doing fine. I told the father though that he needed to get the baby to the hospital, as soon as possible, or else he would die. The lungs are not completely developed at 7 months in the womb. Toby quickly drove the baby to the closest village that had a truck. He found 3 men. They all said no. One said he could not go because he had to cut his coffee. One said, here in Tomala we are only Catholics on the outside not on the inside when Toby appealed to his Christian sense of duty. This wasted an hour. I had to close clinic and say no to 100 patients so we could get Santos the baby to the hospital. Sharon, Toby’s mom, and I helped the baby breath when he needed help. We also suctioned him as needed. He did pretty well the whole trip down (2 hours or more). As soon as I entered the hospital he went blue. The hospital staff could not revive him. We were so upset but your prayers helped us tremendous. God gave us peace.

My nurse Yami was over 2 weeks due with her baby. Her doctor told her to come in 2 weeks after the due date. Toby and I did not feel comfortable waiting that long. I took her to the doctor I had been seeing for infertility. He was very concerned also. We had her in his office in within 2 hours. He did testing for 4 hours. He found Yami had almost no fluid in her sack. He said the baby would have died had she waited that long. He immediately admitted her into the hospital. He induced labor with no success. He decided to do a c-section. Martin and Yami now have a healthy baby girl. If it were not for your prayers the baby might have died.

Many of you have been praying for our Spanish and the church. Toby has been preaching for several months now and is doing an excellent job. He really gets into the sermon and does various pantomimes making sure the people understand. It is so exciting to see him talk in Spanish. He can now work with the guys a lot more easily. When we first came here the church size was around 30. Now we have around 80 attending. When we first came we had only 5 men in the church. Now we have around 15 men. Toby is thinking that we are going to have to expand the church again. We are so thankful for all the things God is doing through all of our prayers.

Thank you for being a part of our ministry. If it were not for you we would not be where we are today.

God bless,

Toby and Amy Hill
