February 17, 2002
Dear friends, The last month has been exciting and hectic. We sent 17 youth from our three churches to CIY and they came back united and on fire. Juan is really doing a good job with our mountain youth. Martin Diaz (Yami's husband) was with the kids and made the decision to study to be one of our mountain ministers. Since April 2001 we have a full time medical clinic at La Union. Yami, my Honduran nurse associate, is there in the village where her husband grew up and sees 40 to 70 people a day. With our two clinics, we have seen 5,145 patients. Many lives have been saved, and specialty care normally unavailable to the mountain people has been possible. In a recent e-mail, I asked for prayer on seven matters so Jose Daniel could get to the states and have successful abdominal surgery. The next day a journalist and photographer from the main newspaper in San Pedro Sula came to visit they clinic. They had seen one of our patients at the hospital who suggested they come talk to us. The health department was saying there were no scabies and other skin problems in Honduras. I had several patients with just those problems. We received a copy of the paper then that had the article they wrote. They were then asking if I had other interesting stories to tell and related how Jose Daniel is to have surgery in Cincinnati March 5. When I mentioned some of the problems in my prayer list they took up our case and helped us cut some red tape. We continue to ask your prayers for Jose Daniel that we can travel February 23 without problems. We are so very thankful for our prayer warriors and those who support our work in so many ways. Serving Him in the Merendon Mountains of Honduras, Toby and Amy Hill
