Dear friends and family, What a week this has been! Monday I went to the Ruth Paz Foundation to check on Daniel's passport and visa. The director had been out of the country for a week so I wanted to make sure everything was still moving. They talked to the embassy and no one had started working on the visa/passport. I then had to go to our usual travel agency to book flights for Daniel and me since two other options for tickets had fallen through. Actually I had been working with the possibilities for some weeks and they didn't have anything for me yet. Then too, John Nolan who chaired the Christian Church Planters International in Indianapolis came to visit. The organization has disbanded and he was apologetic that they wouldn't be able to support our mountain ministers. We had a good visit, shared all about our ministry in the Merendon and then the next day took him to the airport. I needed to get a number of errands finished so that I would have some time to get familiar with Daniel. The travel agency told me the only fly dates available were on Wednesday, the next day, and we had planned for Saturday or Sunday. I told them I didn't have the baby's visa yet and they hoped it would come in Wednesday morning so we wouldn't miss the pre-op appointments on Monday. I called Ruth Paz (a foundation assisting international surgeries) to call for help. They contacted the Vice Counsel at the Embassy who hand delivered Daniel's passport for immediate processing. So many things to do and I didn't want to leave Toby with unfinished tasks. We had been without water for some days, but I was able to do that before leaving. We will be separated for over a month so I then spent time with Toby since he has many things to do in Honduras. Wednesday we picked up our plane tickets at 9:30 AM and then rushed to get Daniel's passport and visa and further rushed to get to the airport on time. We flew into Indianapolis and my parents met us to bring us to Cincinnati. Toby's sister Dawn was there too and brought clothes as did my parents. So we had warm things to bundle the baby in. Flying to and from Indy has better rates. Thursday late afternoon I came down with flu and was so sick I couldn't take care of Daniel. It was just great that he took quickly to Mom and Dad. The doctor's office handling the surgery has asked that Daniel not be taken into groups of people to avoid exposure and sickness that could delay the surgery. We will not be able to bring Daniel to meet you for a while. While I am gone Toby will be busy completing the water project at La Union (a project funded and supported by IDES). Then about March 16 a group from Lexington, OH will visit to remodel the existing clinic building which we have purchased and also do some preliminary work on the new church building in La Union de Rio Frio. Toby and I ask for your prayers. This may mean a six week separation and we really do compliment each other on getting the work done. It will be difficult to keep things moving in the usual schedule. We ask you to keep Daniel in your prayers for his surgery March 5th that everything will go well and that there will be quick healing and full recovery. God bless, Toby and Amy Hill, |
