Dear friends and family,
We arrived back in San Pedro Sula on Saturday. Due to weather problems we did not get in until around two in the afternoon. Thankfully we were able to get our truck out of the shop. Saturday we spent the evening getting most things in order. Since we did not have water I could not clean the house. Sunday was a great day. We really enjoyed being with the people again. I, Amy, received many hugs a rarity beforehand. Several people said how much they missed us. Somehow a rumor had gotten around that we were moving to Guatemala. Some people have been very direct and others indirect in asking to make sure we plan on continuing living here on the mountain. It was my responsibility to teach Sunday school. Since we returned late I was not able to prepare as I would normally so I tried to use some time Sunday morning. So Many people wanted to talk to me I was not able to get everything set up for the children's class as I would have liked although the children did not notice.
Sunday afternoon, Santos one of the ministers at the mountain church came to visit. He and Toby had a wonderful time of catching up on the time we were away. Santos is really enjoying the Bible Institute. They had several guest teachers at the Bible Institute over the last two weeks while Bill Hoff was in the States.
Our friend Joel Augustus taught on baptism one day. In the afternoon, he took the students to a waterfall where they could practice some of the things that they were being taught. Santos was telling us all he learned. It was a great time to for both Toby and Santos to openly discuss the school and the events here in Merendons.
Monday Toby spent a lot of time running errands. We are building two bathrooms up in La union de Rio Frio, where we have our rural clinic. One of our groups will be staying up there for four days. The bathrooms will be given, one to the two families who allow us to use their house for the groups and clinics as a thank you. The other will also be giving to Martin
’s mom and sister who have always cooked for us. Toby bought the basic supplies for a couple of guys to start working on them. He also picked up the rest of the Sunday school material that has been held in customs for a couple months. We are glad that we were able to get the material before we finished the book.Monday evening Emilio our other preacher here in Penitas came over for supper. It was additional time to catch up on happenings here.San Carlos Christian Church in Florida sent a large gift to the church for instruments. Toby and Emilio discussed what was needed and when they could start looking. The church has really wanted to have an amplifier and electric guitar. Toby is hoping to have some time next week. The church is very grateful for this blessing. One of the church members who is supported from people in the states, has been living a double life. We have talked to her and have sent many others to teach her in areas that she needs to improve. It seems she has become outraged, furious and nasty to everyone we have sent to help her She has been given several warnings to change her lifestyle or consequences would come. Emilio and Santos decided that we should retain her support for three months. It is one of the last ways to try to bring her around. If she changes that money will be given to her and if not the church would like to find someone else to support. Our neighbor Edi should be moving out of the house he currently lives in to another one. When he does the church leadership would like for us to
move her into the house next to us and the owner has given us permission to do so. We would be able to keep a close eye on her then. If after all these things there is no response she will loose her support. At age 30 she has six children.Tuesday we left for La Union de Rio Frio at 6 a.m. and returned at 7 p.m. It was a long but good day. We had 165 patients. It was a crazy day. I was proud of how well Lita, Yami, Martin, and I worked together to get everything done as quickly as possible. Toby was able to talk to the men there while we saw patients. They asked him to come and preach every Sunday at 3 p.m. Toby as really excited about it. Please keep this and other ministry opportunities in your prayers. Toby will be visiting at least ten villages weekly to build relationships and open places up for ministry. Thank you for your prayers. Our time for study in Antigua was very beneficial and we renewed our energy for the work here. We are able to get so much more accomplished after our rest. The next month will be mostly used for preparing for groups. Toby plans on visiting weekly all the villages where they will be going.
We would like to say happy Mother’s Day to all of you who are mothers. We hope you have a wonderful day.
God bless,
Toby and Amy Hill
