Newly adopted Casandra at15 months old

Dear friends and family,

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 it says”give thanks in all circumstances”. Our lives have been very difficult lately but God calls us to be thankful so in this e-mail I will focus on all the things we can be thankful for.

We are very grateful that Dr. Jim Masters and Dr. Don Orth were here to provide dental care for the people in the mountain. Dr.Orth was here for 2 weeks. They were extremely busy. They gave their all to see all the patients that came. Dr. Masters many days started at 6:30 a.m. and finisthed around 6 or 7 p.m. in order to see everyone after Dr. Orth left. We encouraged them to pace themselves and turn some away so that they could keep their energy up. The need was so great though they felt they could not turn anyone away. They saw around 600 patients. We really appreciate their great attitudes since we were overwhelmed with problems that kept us from being at the clinic with them. They were such an encouragement and help to us. Thanks guys!

Paper work…. We were very grateful to get all of our paperwork finished on Friday. After two weeks of working on just getting our passports, residency card, and adoption paperwork we were very relieved to be done. The consular agent in San Pedro was very nice. Usually two forms of I.D.s are required. All my ID’s were taken but we did have copies of everything which the agent accepted after hearing what happened and seeing the report. Our lawyer helped me get all the paperwork ready to get my residency card. We could not proceed without passport or residency card on the adoption. Our lawyer called us last Wednesday afternoon to tell us see needed blood work, references, bank statements, and a doctor’s letter of good health.. This needed to be done by last Friday. We were thankful that things went well. We were able to get it all in by Friday afternoon. The next week was when we worked on the passport and residency card. All that had to be authenticated. By Friday we were able to take a

Speaking of Cassandra… When we first met Cassandra she was sick. The government foster doctor said if she did not respond to the treatment to find her a doctor in San Pedro Sula. Cassandra did not respond to treatment. We were very grateful to God to find a pulmonary/allergy specialist that we think very highly of. He really knew his area. He told us Cassandra had a sinus infection, ear infection, and bronchitis. Some of you may know what a nebulizer is. It is a machine that provides a medicine that opens up the lungs in the form of a mist. We were told to give her 3 treatments a day. We found out that Cassandra HATES nebulizer treatments very quickly. She must have had several treatments before hand because she knows exactly how to tear each part of the machine apart. At day 6 she broke our nebulizer machine when tearing apart the tubing did not get her the results that she wanted. Needless to say both mom and Cassandra were exhausted by the end of each treatment. The good news is that C

We are also exciting to tell you that we have had several baptisms 10 in fact. One of them is Daniel’s father. Juan, one of our ministers, has been working with the men going to the Bible Institute to teach them how to preach. He then continues on to help them develop a sermon. The men who have preached so far have done an excellent job. We are so proud of how much they have grown.

God bless,

Toby, Amy, and Cassandra Hill
