We had a great week with the kids [from Highview Christian Church and Pleasant Run Church of Christ in Cincinnati]. It was really nice for Toby to have Paul here. He was able to get in a lot of guy conversation. He bounced a lot of ideas off of Paul. Paul also found my clinic files right off. That was a stress reliever. He also did some cleaning on the computer such as defragmatation.

The kids were all great. We had two twelve year olds which really shocked me but they handled everything really well. We had only minor problems every once in a while. If Toby and I said anything they listened immediately. It was wonderful. We got to know each of the kids really well. The other two leaders were really nice. Richard and Brenda. You will get to visit with Richard dad either on Monday or Tuesday. We really enjoyed getting to know them. Richard is the chairman of the elders and Mission Chairman. He and Brenda are really going to push for the church to support us. They were so encouraging.

The kids were hysterical on some of their comments. I only can remember one right now. Richard asked one of the girls to get the trash from the bathroom so he could burn it. She said don’t you have Rumpky here? Are you going to pollute the air by burning the trash. It was incredible to her that we did not have someone coming up to dispose of our trash.

The villages we went to were all very receptive except one. The first one we went to San Cristobal usually does not have a teacher come out there to teach. It is way out there. The kids were not too intelligent. It was so hard to teach them. Yami did an excellent job teaching. We often split things up. La Fortuna, Guanales, and Rio Frio were extremely receptive and excited for us to be there. On Thursday there was a teacher meeting so the kids did not have class. The two teachers made arrangements so that we could come and have VBS. We finally found out who our friends were that landed in a helicopter. A doctor that has been helping me that sometimes helps Samaritan’s Purse. They built a school for the people in La Fortuna.

Yami did an excellent job the whole week. When we had two classes she would teach. We sometimes would switch back and forth. She put in a lot of work. She made sure the perishable food was always cold and moved around to promote it being kept cold. She worked really hard. I was very proud of her. Richard and Brenda took video and pictures. They will send some excerpts to Garden City. The group decided to buy her a baby bed that she fell in love with at Price Smart. We bought it yesterday. She is extremely happy about that.

Scott did an excellent job also. He did not read any lessons but he did read for the dramas they did. I think it was great experience for Scott. There are not to many teenagers at the English church. He hardly ever has teenager connections. He got along so well and had a lot of fun with the teenagers. The group gave him $50 for his help. I really appreciated that. They will be leaving for the states in a couple of weeks so he will have some money to spent. Every night the kids encouraged one another. The last night the leaders decided to include Scott. I think he really appreciated that. I was amused that the kids thought that Scott was an adult. At first the kids shied away from him but when they found out he was a kid they really included him. I really appreciated that.

It was really a joy to have this group. I am a little tired but not much. The group listened and got along with us so well it was easy for us to have them. Toby is exhausted and sick. We were suppose to spend the night in the city last night. I did all the work so he could rest a little. I went and found Max to watch the house. I got out all the coolers, water jugs, gas containers and put them in the truck. When all that was done he said he did not want to go but at least it is ready for today. We should be leaving shortly.

Yesterday Greg and Tracy Tracy came up to visit with his parents. They wanted them to know us. We really enjoyed getting to know them.
