Dear friends and family,

Life has been really hectic and crazy as usual.  I am helping send one of my patients to the states for heart surgery.  Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington , Kentucky and Doctor Salley have agreed to provide all services for free.  What a blessing!  Dunia is almost 17 years old and looks like a 9 year old.  Yesterday, her dad, Dunia and I flew to the capital for her medical visa interview.  The embassy was really nice and gave her approval for a visa in very little time.  There was some paperwork that I was suppose to have but didn’t since I didn’t receive the list in time. The embassy was very understanding.  They have a great relationship with Ruth Paz Foundation.  Ruth Paz Foundation is a very highly respected and trusted organization so on the Tegucigalpa ’s director’s word they allowed her to receive a visa.  Dunia will be tentively flying to the states on August 27th.  She has Noonan’s Syndrome and may have to have an open heart surgery. The first week she is in the states she will go through all the diagnostic and prep work so they can do the surgery.  Please keep her in your prayers as this will be an overwhelming experience for a girl who has not even been able to attend school due to her health condition.

Many of you have been wondering about Daniel’s situation.  The director as I mentioned was convinced to sign the document but at the same time was persuaded to sign approximately 300 in the same week. Her staff which had no work now is overwhelmed getting everything together for the judge to look at.  One of the people at IHNFA will personally call the judge as soon as the lawyer presents the documents to her to explain the situation and encourage her to sign off on everything as quickly as possible.  Ruby is hoping to present the documents to the court next Wednesday.  Please be praying that Ruby and I can be in contact.  No matter what phone we have they break down or communication isn’t allowed to happen.  It has been very frustrating with Dunia and Daniel’s cases not to be able to make the needed phone calls.

At the clinic I have been seeing between 35 and 45 patients a day.  Monday I had almost 60 patients.  We have been having a lot of rain which causes a lot of dysentery (the heavy rains cause the water to become contaminated).  It has gotten to the point that I just give the medicine when they mention diarrhea since probably around 90% of my patients come in with the same complaint.  It has also caused a lot of upper/lower respiratory problems.  Last months medicine cost around $4,000 because there were so many people going through the same basic medicine.  I have also had several cases that I have had to send to specialist and get them special exams done.

Many of you have asked about my dad. He is doing great!  He does not have to have chemo again until September.  At that time, they will go through several procedures to see where he is at.  It has been wonderful for him not to have to go through chemo as that is very difficult on the body.

The men last week finished their first segment of leadership training.  They all enjoyed it and learned a lot.  Toby really wants to pick up more discipleship but the vehicles just aren’t where he can safely do that.  We have had one in the shop for a month.  Someone put dirt in the gas/diesel tank which destroyed it.  Supposedly it will take 2 months to get a new tank.  The white one is having electrical problems.  We love our vehicles when they work but it has come to the point where we are going to sell the blue once it’s fixed to buy a new vehicle that fixes everything for the first 3 years.  They see Toby and see dollar signs. It doesn’t matter what vehicle it is.  I have been so busy that I haven’t been able to keep up with Toby’s ministry. Next e-mail I will try to tell you more about his ministry.

Please pray that our communications would work.  I use a lot of time up just trying to call and receive calls from people.  Also pray that our vehicles would be repaired soon and remain working so Toby can do more discipling.  Please pray that my two surgeries would be taken care of.  The bills came to almost $20,000.  The health insurance company is calling things pre-existing conditions.  They have refused to pay for my gallbladder surgery.  This has also taken up a lot of my time.  Prayers are really needed right now as there are so many problems.  Thank you so much for all your prayers.

May God bless you,
